Pop Art with Jade Weber
Making it Pop!
As a photographer, I’m always searching for beauty in my surroundings and trying to capture that in my photographs. This shoot however, turned that concept on its head by making cardboard cutouts of all the props. I was injecting beautiful motifs into the shoot which stitched together the theme of Pop Art made famous by Andy Warhol in the 1950’s.
We worked with four looks, four backgrounds and 4 different sets of props as each image needed to be different and have its own to breathe. All the make-up and hairstyling was done on set and no element was added in postproduction which made it even more unique.
A collaboration with model Jade Weber and the celebrity make-up artist/hair stylist, Melissa Bedi. The model was styled to look like she had jumped out of or into a surreal world of Roy Lichtenstein’s comic strips and the props added a lot to the looks. It was interesting to work with materials that were analog in an otherwise digital moving world of commercial photography. It was however, by swimming in the opposite direction to the trend that made the shoot pop.
